I’m Matthew Mifsud, 20 years old. I started training in the gym focusing mainly on building muscle, but from day one I kept the squat, bench press, and deadlift as the core of my training. For about two years, I stayed consistent and built a base that would later shape my journey.
In July 2023, I decided to take powerlifting seriously and commit fully to structured training and competition. Not long after, I stepped onto the platform for the first time. In my debut competition, I hit a 205kg squat, 120kg bench, and 237.5kg deadlift — breaking national records in all three lifts and in total. That moment showed me that I had a bright future in powerlifting if I kept at it.

I kept pushing, competing internationally and chasing progress. Since then, I’ve lifted a 262.5g squat, 152.5kg bench, and 287.5kg deadlift in training, numbers that came from years of showing up, even on the days motivation wasn’t there.

If there’s one thing I can say I’ve learned and properly been through, is that progress doesn’t come overnight, but if you trust the process and stay consistent, you’ll be surprised how far you can get in life.
